I was watching Colombo -- or someone else was watching Colombo in the other room. Then I thought of that line from "Princess' Bride" -- never start a land war in Asia. But of curse, this was reportedly mentioned General Douglas MacArthur to President John F. Kennedy, in 1961.
I figure it does not count if you are from Asia, because lots of people start wars there, and win them all the time.
