Going all out here for the Christmas Holiday -- Christmas Smaller...if only we could -- it seems Christmas gets bigger and bigger every year in the Buying & Having department & smaller and smaller in the Spirit of Giving. But a hearty "Ho Ho Ho" to all of you, as a certain Fat Man says! And if all of this makes you grumpy, have an eggnog with extra brandy, on me.* CM Evans Cartoons
* My daughter. 7, asked me what is in Eggnog? I said, simple - Eggs and Nogs. What are Nogs? She asked. That is the question, I responded.

The Daily Grind - Iron Man Challenge continues....grinding on and on and on. Talk about fortitude! I wonder when it will end? I give it at least one more year. Even two. That's a helluva lot of work for 1,120 bucks. But they say a real cartoonist will constantly crank out work, whether they get published or not. Which in my opinion, is true. At least it was for me. Some of my favorites: Bela - YOUNGADVENTUREFRIENDS, Joseph - Say Uncle Comics, Jennie - The Devil's Panties

Thursday's cartoon update -- Rob's Other Eye -- is it Thursday already? This week shot by pretty fast for some reason. I gotta get going on my Christmas shopping. If you have all your shopping done by now, I hate you. CM Evans Cartoons

I'm sifting through the 800 plus cartoons I've posted to CM Evans Cartoons, and from time to time I'll throw an oldie-but-goody for you to see. Posted back in 2003, number 348, this cartoon has entertained me mightily. Cement Angel

Look At This, a pointer blog that I visit every day, has an entry showing a bottle house, looks like in Russia. I've seen two bottle houses in my travels -- one is located in the ghost town of Rhyolite, in Nevada. The other one is in, of all places, Knott's Berry Farm Amusement Park, in Buena Park, CA. See the picture above -- I got it from a funny Swedish website that has information and pictures of the park. As for the house in Rhyolite (still standing, with a new roof), it was built by Tom Kelly in about 1906. Here is a website with info, history and pictures of the "Tom Kelly Bottle House". I hear that it was well used, several generations of kids were raised there. It also has an interesting rock garden/ cement sculpture garden of miniature houses & buildings. While we are at it, here is a website that has links to a whole bunch of bottle houses all over the United States, including what it claims to be the first bottle house, built in Tonopah, Nevada in 1902.
More info on the ghost town of Rhyolite, here. A place worth visiting, if you get out there --plus Death Valley is about an hour away, a must see, too.
Lastly, on a side note: Knott's Berry Farm also has a smallish barrel house, next to Boot Hill. But amazingly, I can't find any good pics of this.
