I continue to draw a good luck dog a day -- known as a
ShiShi - or
Chinese Lion-Dog. I'll be doing this every day for the whole Chinese New Year -- the lunar year of the Wood Horse. The famous Japanese woodblock artist
Hokusai did this same practice in 1842 when he was around 80 years old. He called it his 'daily exorcism'. I don't see it as this, but I like the idea of a ShiShi-a-day. There is something light and happy about drawing them, and each one has it's own distinct feel or personality -- it is quite remarkable.
