Cartoon - Don't Ask Him

Welcome to the Tuesday Update. Best not ask when someone is this damn sad. But hey, it might be sunny outside. Or just buy him a damn drink. CM Evans Cartoons

Lenardo and Blandine 1783 - Bugpowder - Andy - Etc.

A whole damn zoo of linked text here in this post. Added a link to the document Lenardo and Blandine -- via Andy's Early Comics Archive at Bugpowder. Reputably the first true "comic book" by by Joseph Freiherr von Goez (or Götz) in 1783. I found this through the pointer site Look at This, another place you should go. Have another great weekend. Or have another crappy weekend. Happy St. Patrick's day!

BOASAS is live at Opium Magazine!

I'm happy to announce something new on the cartoon front, happening over at Opium Magazine today. Steven Cloud, who draws the popular webcomic Boy on a Stick and Slither, has joined the fabulous Opium Magazine cartoon lineup. Be sure to check out his work!

Cartoon - Wrongheaded

Thursday cartoon update -- there's a big strikeout, or correction that I didn't erase on the cartoon "Wrongheaded". I think this glaring flaw transforms the whole work into a bizzare epic statement. Otherwise it is going to upset a whole load of people who like watching birds. I might make a few English teachers upset too. CM Evans Cartoons

Tuesday Cartoon - My Pyramid Costume

Today's Tuesday cartoon update -- when you make a costume, remember to drill holes in it so you can see. And while you're at it, drill other holes so you can breath, too. What kind of shoes go with a pyramid costume? Or would you just have tattered ancient mummy legs sticking out the bottom? CM Evans Cartoons

Link added - Ryan Sias drawing Silent Kimbly

Ryan Sias and I traded a few emails yesterday and today -- he's the guy who draws the beguiling webcomic Silent Kimbly. I hope you go and check it out, it is worth looking at. Besides being a talented cartoonist, Ryan does storyboard work for movies like Bowling for Columbine and Robots. I added him to my links section. Thanks Ryan!

A Double Posting for Tuesday

I'm feelin' my damn oats, I guess. A twofer cartoon update today. First one is U M F. I ain't gonna say any more about that, unless someone cares to comment or ask. So go ahead. Second one, "The Flying Ring of Death", I drew last week, and I titled it today about 15 minutes ago. I laughed then and I'm still laughing about it now. CM Evans Cartoons

Cartoon - S M Coupon

Thursday cartoon update. "S M Coupon". This little gag hung around for about 2 years. I didn't think it was funny enough to post when I drew it, but I bumped into it today going through some image archives, and I hadn't had enough coffee. And man, it was funny when I was deprived of coffee. CM Evans Cartoons

Cartoon - On Vacation

Tuesday cartoon update. "On Vacation". Another one of those cartoons I drew first and then held for a couple of weeks before captioning. I think I could have come up with a funnier caption, but I've stuck with the first one that came to mind, which is usually the best bet for these things. CM Evans Cartoons

Fleeting Fame in Google Images

If you type "sun moon butt" into Google and click on "Images" this is the first image you get. Admittedly a juvenile, retarded little drawing, yet not lacking in humor. Darby Hudson wrote (sic) "Ha! it's like a pagan ritual!!" when he saw it. Damn it, it could very well be.

Linked Superdaughter

I put a new link up in my Links section. Superdaughter. I think you should go check it out.

Cartoon - I Like Hats

Thursday cartoon update. "I Like Hats". It's one of those things where a guy likes hats. I don't like hats as much as he does, but who isn't fond of hats, at least? CM Evans Cartoons

10 Ugly Things Created by Humans

Added a new link to the Links section -- 10 Ugly Things Created by Humans. Delightfully distasteful, I must say.

Todd Zuniga interviewed at Gothamist

Todd Zuniga, founder and editor of Opium Magazine has a sterling interview at Gothamist, where he spills the proverbial beans. Check it out.

Cartoon - Will You Crank My CPU?

Oh yeah..updated the website. Normal Tuesday & Thursday routine. "Will you crank my CPU..." I drew that one first without a caption (with a bunch of other cartoons) and held onto it for about a week before adding the tagline. Tagline came pretty quick. CM Evans Cartoons

Poptart as Napalm

Hey -- a hot poptart can burn you like napalm, no problem. I overdid one today, and when I was taking it out of the toaster I bobbled it. It flipped over in this funny way and I accidentally crushed the top of it with the longest finger on my left hand. A glob of gooey super-hot sugar bonded to my fingernail and I was being roasted by the filling. It felt like I had dipped my finger in acid. I screamed and got my hand under the faucet. Now, the problem is, I stopped the burning, but I burned my finger really good. So when I take my hand out (because I can't leave it in the cold water indefinitely) my finger will become x100 more painful than it is now. There, I took my hand out. Wow. I was right. I am in so much pain, I want to dig my eyes out with my good hand.
